Applications
Solutions used in laboratory analysis are highly sensitive to contaminants — even trace impurities in water can invalidate experimental results. The WE200 produces ASTM Type 1 ultrapure water suitable for the most demanding laboratory applications:
Buffers and Reagents
Buffers correct pH levels in solutions; reagents stimulate reactions to detect the presence or absence of other substances. Both require water free from dissolved minerals, organics, and ions that could affect acidity or pH. The WE200's ion-exchange and RO purification process delivers the high-purity water needed for reliable buffer and reagent preparation.
Cell Culture
Standard tap water contains bacteria, endotoxins, organic ions, and compounds that disrupt or kill cells and alter pH. The WE200 removes these contaminants to produce Type 1 water suitable for cell culture media preparation, bioreactor rinsing, and related biological applications. For ultra-sensitive cell lines requiring guaranteed pyrogen/endotoxin-free water (<0.001 EU/ml), an optional downstream ultrafiltration (UF) cartridge is recommended.
High-Sensitivity Trace Analysis
Techniques such as ICP-MS, ICP-OES, HPLC, and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) require ultrapure water to prevent background contamination from interfering with trace-level measurements. The WE200's <0.056 µS/cm conductivity and up to 18.2 MΩ·cm resistivity meet ASTM Type 1 requirements for these applications.
General Laboratory Use
Suitable for glassware rinsing, standard solution preparation, and any application requiring consistent, high-purity water output.
